In a July 27-28 poll, before any information is provided about either candidate, Republican Russell Fry leads Democrat John Vincent 41.1% to 36.9%, with 22% undecided.

Starting immediately, people who voted in the 2024 or 2022 general election in Darlington, Florence, Georgetown and Horry Counties with partisan scores 30-70 need to read in mailboxes and see digital ads on programmatic, streaming and YouTube that communicate the following:

• Retired U.S. Navy Command Master Chief and small business owner John Vincent understands that many families in South Carolina's coastal communities depend on tourism and small businesses to make a living. He is running for Congress to focus on strengthening the local economy, supporting small businesses, and helping working families keep more of what they earn. He wants to end the tariffs that raise prices on everyday goods, protect Social Security, raise wages so a full-time job covers the basics, and make homeownership achievable again for working families.

After voters hear about Vincent's Navy background and kitchen-table economic message, the race flips to an 11-point lead for Vincent. Cost of living, the single largest issue in the electorate, already favors Vincent by 21 points, and Vincent's own message performs as well or better with undecided and younger voters.

Vincent's military-background bio clears net-positive with every group tested: it nets +75 with Democrats, +56 with Independents, +29 even with Republicans, +45 with men, +54 with women, +51 with White voters, and +55 with Black voters. It also strengthens with age, from a net of +38 among voters 18–34 up to +53 among voters 65 and older. His economic message follows the same shape, weakest with Republicans (net +9) but net-positive everywhere else, including +81 with Democrats and +56 with women.

Immediate positive advertising is essential to capitalize on a surprise opportunity to win a Republican seat.
